The World Rated ("we", "us") is an independent, ad-free guide to travel destinations, based in London, UK. This page explains what data we collect when you visit theworldrated.com, why, and what choices you have.
What we collect
We do not require an account to use this site, and we do not run any forms, newsletters, or logins — so we never collect your name, email address, or any other personal details directly.
When you visit, our analytics provider (see below) automatically collects standard usage data: which pages you view, how you arrived here, your approximate location (derived from your IP address, not your precise location), and general device/browser information. This is aggregated and used to understand how the site is used — it is not used to identify you personally.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand site traffic. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish you from other visitors across a session. These cookies only run after you accept them in the cookie banner shown on your first visit — if you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is sent for that visit.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage for this site, which will show the banner again on your next visit.
Other third-party services
Some page elements are loaded directly from third-party services rather than hosted by us, which means those providers can see that your browser requested something from them (typically just your IP address and the resource requested, standard for any web request):
